Meet at the end of Atlantic Way, off Wildwood Drive in Saco
Good morning! We urgently need a large group of volunteers this Saturday to walk back a bridge that floated away in last month's record-breaking high tide.
This 1500-pound wooden truss bridge normally spans a channel in the Rachel Carson marsh near Seaside Avenue. Unfortunately, the flood tide carried the bridge about 20 yards up Atlantic Way Trail. One of our most popular trails, it has been impassable since the storm.
To restore the bridge and reopen the trail, we will meet at the Atlantic Way end of the trail and walk down to the site. We'll need 16 people to carry the bridge back to the marsh and pull it across the channel with ropes, 2x4's and 25-foot birch trees.
If this sounds like fun to you, then you're just who we need. No experience or tools needed. Just meet us at the end of Atlantic Way, off Wildwood Drive in Saco, at 9 am on Saturday. Hope to see you there!
